Prof. Yifei Li – Director

Dr. Yifei Li received his B.Eng. in Optoelectronics from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China, in 1996. He received his MS (2001) and PhD (2003) in Electrical Engineering both from Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA. From 2003 to 2007, he was a research faculty with the Center for Microwave-Lightwave Engineering, Drexel University. In 2007, he joined the ECE Department of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, where he is an associate professor and the director of the RF Photonics Lab. Dr. Li is a visiting faculty with the Optoelectronic Research Group in the University of California Santa Barbara. Dr. Li has four US patents in the area of RF Photonics. He has numerous publications in renowned technical journals and international conference proceedings. Dr. Li was a winner of European Microwave Association (EuMA) Young Scientist Prize (1st prize) during the 12th Colloquium on Microwave Communications held in Budapest, Hungary. He was a winner of 2008 DARPA MTO Young Faculty Award. As a PI or co-PI, Dr. Li has led 10 competitive federal grants with combined funding of ~ $4.5M.

Dr. Tariq Manzur – Lecturer

Dr. Manzur is an adjunct professor at UMASS Dartmouth and teaches foundational courses in Optics, Fiber optics and photonics. He is a researcher with the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, Rhode Island.

Jeffrey Rodriguez – PhD Candidate

Jeffrey Rodriguez received his B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico- Mayaguez in 2015. He received his M.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from UMASS Dartmouth. Mr. Rodriguez is employed by the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport where he works with Electronic Warfare Systems. He is currently pursuing his PhD degree with the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

Research interests: RF/Photonics Integrated Circuit Design and Analog fiber optic links.

Michael Benker – Research Assistant
Michael received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from UMASS Dartmouth. He is currently studying for a M.S. in Electrical Engineering. He is currently a graduate research assistant.
Research interests: Photonic devices, photonic integrated circuits and RF Photonic links.

Paul Coble – Research Assistant ch Assistant, M.S. Electrical Engineering
Paul Received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from UMASS Dartmouth. Paul reveived his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from UMASS Dartmouth. Thesis: “”Radar Cross-Section Measurement using Micro-Photonics”
Research interests: Advanced Radar systems, optics and Radar imaging

Jason Poirier – Research Assistant
Jason received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from UMASS Dartmouth. He is currently studying for a M.S. in Electrical Engineering. He is currently a graduate research assistant.
Research interests: Photonic Integrated Circuits, Photonic Links, and Semiconductor Lasers

Lucio De Pra – Research Assistant
Lucio De Pra received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from UMASS Dartmouth and is currently pursuing his M.S. in Electrical Engineering. He is currently a graduate research assistant/teaching assistant. Research interests: advanced radar systems/radar imaging, photonic devices, and signal processing.

Zadan Ly – MS Candidate
Zadan works at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, RI. Research interests include advanced Radar systems.

Andres Ramos – MS Candidate

Jared Alves – Undergraduate Research Assistant, B.S. Electrical Engineering
Jared was an undergraduate research assistant from 2019-2020. Currently, he is employed with the Naval Undersea Warfare Center. Interests include RF, Electronic Warfare and Antennas.

Massoud H. Massoud – M.S. in Electrical Engineering
Massoud currently works at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, RI. He did his M.S. Thesis in High Dynamic Range RF Amplifiers. Massoud’s interests include RF and Electronic Warfare. Massoud was part of the SMART fellowship program.

Dr. Shilei Jin – Lab Manager
Shilei Jin received the B.S. degree in Electronic Information Science and Technology from JiangSu University of Science and Technology, China, in 2005 and was a Ph.D. candidate in Radio Engineering from Southeast University, China, from 2006 to 2010. He received Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, USA in 2015. He worked as a research associate and the manager of RF Photonics Lab at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Research interests: advanced components for microwave/photonic links, photonic integrated circuits.

Longtao Xu – Ph.D.
Longtao received his BE degree in Electrical Engineering from Shandong University, Jinan China, in 2010. He received his MS degree in Electrical Engineering from Southeast University, Nanjing, China, in 2013. Research interests: RF/Photonics, photonic integrated circuit, fiber optics links.

Di Li – M.S. Student

Di Li graduated from the Harbin Institute of Technology China in 2012 with the diploma of Bachelor in Communication Engineering. He received his Masters degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
